Community-based hub to complement historic Pewabic Pottery
DETROIT – August 31, 2026– Pewabic Pottery is launching the Pewabic Neighborhood Studio, a new community ceramics space that expands opportunity for creativity, collaboration, and accessibility on Detroit’s east side.
Located at the Cadillac Arts Centre in the Little Village cultural corridor, the Pewabic Neighborhood Studio will serve as a hub for community-based arts programming. It will be anchored by a partnership with the Progressive Art Studio Collective (PASC) and designed to foster new collaborations with organizations, artists, and neighbors. The fully accessible space creates new opportunities to welcome participants of all abilities while supporting a broader range of community-centered programs and partnerships.
PASC is a community-based open studio program working with artists with disabilities in a professional art studio environment. These studios have an educational ethos developed for adults with disabilities and are united by a goal to support them in building and maintaining careers in contemporary art.

As we continue to grow our partnerships and expand access to the arts, this new studio reflects our ongoing commitment to making ceramics education and creative opportunities available to all.”
“The Pewabic Neighborhood Studio gives us the opportunity to think even more expansively about access, creativity, and how we serve our community,” said Pewabic Executive Director Jim Leija. “This new fully accessible studio creates more opportunities for people of all abilities to experience ceramics, while giving us room to grow new programs and new ways of engaging with our neighbors. We’re especially excited to do that alongside PASC and as part of the remarkable energy taking shape within the Little Village cultural corridor.”
The Pewabic Neighborhood Studio complements Pewabic’s historic campus by expanding access and strengthening connections within the community. Pewabic historic education studio is not moving and will continue to operate as it does today, while the Pewabic Neighborhood Studio provides additional space to grow partnerships, increase accessibility, and further Pewabic’s educational mission.
