Portobello America continues to redefine architectural surfaces with the debut of Aeterna X. As a sophisticated expansion of the Languages of Nature series, this American-made porcelain collection introduces a bold, crosscut-style interpretation designed to bring rhythm and layered depth to contemporary spaces.
Breaking away from traditional linear stone designs, Aeterna X utilizes advanced porcelain technology to produce sweeping horizontal striations that enhance spatial continuity. The collection is meticulously calibrated to offer a seamless “mix and match” experience with Portobello’s classic Aeterna vein-cut series, allowing designers to play with directional texture while maintaining a cohesive color story
“Aeterna X is about expanding the visual language of stone through a modern lens,” said Gabriele Berleze, Portobello America’s Product Manager. “By focusing on the layered depth and organic movement found in nature, we’ve created a porcelain collection that feels both grounded and intentionally contemporary.”
Designed as a versatile tool under Portobello America’s “Living Home” concept, Aeterna X transforms standard porcelain into a high-performance design system capable of withstanding the rigorous demands of both high-end commercial and residential environments.

Collection highlights:
- Colors and finishes: Available in three nature-inspired neutral tones—Bianco, Avorio, and Taupe—featuring a durable Matte finish with both rectified and pressed edge options.
- Dimensional applications: Includes the Inciso Wall Relief, a premium vertical application for refined texture and dynamic light-play, alongside an expanded mosaic program featuring high-concept formats (SQ, Clover, Beat, and Nova).
- Durability: Domestically produced, premium porcelain that delivers the aesthetic appeal of natural travertine without the associated maintenance, porosity, or wear liabilities of raw stone.
- Performance and wet-area readiness: Engineered with exceptional DCOF performance and Class A slip resistance, the collection includes powder glass mosaics (Clover, Beat, and Nova) perfectly suited for wet-to-dry transitions in showers and high-moisture spaces. With the sole exception of the relief products, the entire Aeterna X line is fully suitable for wet-to-dry applications. (Please note: While excellent for wet areas, this collection is not intended for use in pools or spas.)
- Comprehensive size options: Aeterna X offers versatile dimensions for any project, starting with standard 12” x 24″ and 24” x 24″ tiles. To minimize grout lines and create seamless spaces, the collection features 24” x 48″ and a large-format 48” x 48″, plus a stunning 48” x 106″ slab available by special order. Notably, the 12” x 24″, 24” x 24″, 24” x 48″, and 24” x 48″ 3D Relief formats are all proudly Made in the USA.
