Flourish: a new collection by Marcie McComb for New Ravenna

Rooted in a lifelong love of gardens, flowers, and the natural world, Flourish is an expression of nature through color, movement, and the luminous beauty of jewel glass. Each pattern in this collection showcases a variety of colors in New Ravenna’s jewel glass palette, aiming to bring each to life using the variation found in the handmade sheets of glass.

Raised on a farm in New Jersey and inspired by the landscapes of Virginia’s Eastern Shore, McComb has spent her life surrounded by the forms and rhythms of nature. Her background as a floral designer and artist, together with decades of experience creating handcrafted mosaics at New Ravenna, comes together in this deeply personal collection.

Arbor is a vibrant mosaic using varying shades of jewel glass to portray flowers cascading and trailing down, creating a feeling of standing beneath a flowering canopy. The varied flower shapes and colors give the eye something new to discover throughout the composition.

Bougainvillea portrays a breathtaking canopy of small blossoms and leaves. The contrast between the substantial trunk and delicate foliage is its defining feature. This “tree” can be scaled to best fit the space.

Camelia

Bouquet showcases flowers gathered into distinct bundles, with the white space allowing each cluster to feel like a floral still-life.

Camellia highlights the craftsmanship and detail achieved by New Ravenna designers and mosaics artists. The increased scale gives this one a painterly feel.

Clematis is a sweet field featuring curling stems with flowers woven into a continuous decorative rhythm

Dogwood‘s open blossoms and articulated branches make the subject immediately recognizable. These flowers pop against the background, giving the details a strong definition.

Olive Branches creates a quiet composition with its tonal use of glass, slender leaves, and dark olives. The jewel glass colors selected for this mosaic give a richness to the restrained botanical beauty.

Winterberry‘s stylized leaves and round berries form an orderly repeat with a flowing quality. The clean contours of the waterjet-cut shapes highlight the variation seen in each color of jewel glass.

About New Ravenna

Each product can be customized to meet the needs of any customer—tile can be tumbled, honed, or treated to create distinctive styles, subtle shade variations, and textures. The final product is a custom, one-of-a-kind work of art in mosaic tile, which often incorporates the designs of architects, interior designers, and their clients.
