Ceramic Tool Company celebrates 40th anniversary

This year marks the 40th anniversary of Ceramic Tool Company, a metal trim manufacturer and distributor that has provided creative solutions for flooring projects and professionals since 1984. While their high quality metal trim and expansion joints have been the choice for national projects like Kohls and JCPenney, their product line is only one part of their success in the flooring industry.

Forty years ago, President Peggy Heuler founded Ceramic Tool Company as the sole employee, starting out by selling tile racks to assist tile setters.  As a young woman breaking into a male-dominated industry, it’s no question that Peggy faced challenges while establishing Ceramic Tool as a player in the field. Despite these barriers and a battle with cancer, Peggy scaled the business with her determination, ingenuity, and dedication. In 1988 Ceramic Tool became Schluter’s first North American Distributor, even sharing a booth at the 95′ Marble Institute of America show in California.

Four decades later, Ceramic Tool remains a small business with a big impact: acting as “Metal Trim Consultants” for architects and contractors across the country. Standing at the intersection of both manufacturer and distributor, Ceramic Tool’s unique position has enhanced the team’s knowledge and expertise, highlighted by their strong customer relationships and problem solving capabilities.

Peggy’s niece, Sally Christensen, assumed the role of Ceramic Tool’s Vice President last year, carrying on the legacy of a female-led business that prioritizes customers in everything they do. As the flooring industry evolves, Ceramic Tool Company remains unchanged in its personalized services. No where else can you inquire about a flooring specification and have 3 different options presented within the hour, with samples already on the way.

President Peggy Heuler credits Ceramic Tool’s growth and consistent sales success to a clear and consistent vision: “Know your customer, meet their needs and exceed their expectations every time on every project.”  Entering its 40th year with the same energy and focus, Ceramic Tool looks forward to creating new relationships and committing their experience to every project they are involved with.
