FCEF & Welspun turn pennies into solutions

New Charitable Program Benefits the Floor Covering Education Foundation with a Penny Per Square Foot

Las Vegas, NV (February 2, 2022) — As Welspun Flooring prepares to launch their new North American flooring product line, they’re looking to offer more than a quality product to their customers. As their new lines roll out, Welspun has committed to donating, by way of customer base support, one cent from every square foot sold in North America to the Floor Covering Education Foundation (FCEF) on their private labeled programs’ overbill of SPC, Broadloom Carpet and Carpet Tile sold. Welspun chose to support the FCEF with this charitable giving program because their purpose supports the entire flooring industry and has a positive impact on Welspun’s customers.

The FCEF was founded in 2019 primarily to address the shortage of installation craftsmen and the continued decline of qualified installers available to keep up with the demand for professionally installed flooring. “The flooring industry has a big awareness issue when it comes to recruiting young people into the trades,” shared Jim Aaron, Executive Director of FCEF. “Even individuals who want a trade career are probably going to go to other trades that have better awareness such as HVAC, plumbing, and construction.”

“It is extremely important to us as we enter the North American market that we do our part to support the industry and ensure that we have the craftsman needed to install our products professionally,” says Amol Naravane, Vice President, Welspun Flooring Ltd.

Welspun’s decision to support the FCEF by including a one cent per square foot overbill donation on Welspun’s private branded flooring sales in North America shows how simple it can be for organizations to support the FCEF ongoing. The organization hopes that other suppliers within the flooring industry step up to create similar programs.

“This is a program that we want our competitors, our colleagues and even our customers to copy,” encouraged Samuel Thomas, US Head of Flooring, Welspun USA. “We hope this commitment from Welspun brings attention to the FCEF and encourages others to step up and support and organization that is helping the entire industry.”

New products rolling out this spring to North American customers are being debuted at The International Surfaces Event (TISE) in Las Vegas, NV February 1-3.  Welspun will be introducing new styles boasting innovations in technology, design, and construction options in Rigid Waterproof Flooring & Durable Eco-friendly Broadloom Carpet and Carpet Tiles.

The FCEF is also attending TISE where they’ll be focusing on growing awareness of their organization, the programs they’re developing and most importantly, how the industry can take action to support the FCEF.

Together, FCEF and Welspun announced their penny-per-foot partnership at a presentation at the FCEF booth on Tuesday.

“We are so thankful for the support of organizations like Welspun who have really stepped up to help us get our programs off the ground,” shared Aaron. “Whether you’re a supplier, distributor, retailer, or any organization that benefits from the flooring industry, we need your help. When the industry steps up, we at the FCEF can make sure that our industry is able to recruit talent and elevate the flooring installation trade by supporting quality installation training and job placement.”

Welspun expects these new products to be in the market this spring and is looking forward to making regular donations to the FCEF in addition to providing flooring materials for the instructional classes.
