Gruppo Romani: family strategy drives 3rd gen transition, new growth phase

Expected turnover of €140 million, 75% generated abroad, two production plants and over 420 employees

Casalgrande (Reggio Emilia), September 19, 2025 – Gruppo Romani, a leading industrial player in the ceramic district founded in 1968 by Lamberto Romani, creator of Serenissima Ceramiche, has taken a strategic step forward in its growth journey: Chairman Giorgio Romani has transferred 32% of the company shares to his daughter and son, Martina and Riccardo (16% each – Martina, 34, joined the company in 2018 in the Marketing Division; Riccardo, 30, joined in 2023 in Sales and Business Development). This move formalizes the entry of the third generation into the Board of Directors of the parent company, Gruppo Romani S.p.A. Industrie Ceramiche.

This makes Gruppo Romani the first ceramic company in the district to complete a third generational transition while keeping control firmly in the hands of the founding family. “2025 marks a milestone in the history of Gruppo Romani, as our Family Strategy has now become our Family Constitution. It is the tool that allows us to preserve and enhance family business values while combining them with entrepreneurial and economic success. Earlier this year, we finalized the reallocation of shareholdings and outlined a new growth horizon in which the transition to the third generation is a decisive step in ensuring business continuity,” commented Giorgio Romani, Chairman since 2016.

Governance and New Organization

The new Board of Directors includes Giorgio and Paolo Romani (who retains a 20% stake), Martina and Riccardo, Managing Directors Alessandro Berselli and Stefano Chiurco, as well as Mauro Cappelli and Simona Zambelli.

The reorganization establishes two business units: Serenissima integrated with CIR, and Cercom combined with Verde 1999. Cerasarda will continue under its new payoff “Arte del Lusso” (Art of Luxury), targeting the high-end segment, while subsidiary Isla Tiles will carry on with its development plan.

“We have defined a new operational structure with clearer roles and a repositioning of our six brands. This evolution enables us to compete more effectively in today’s markets,” added Giorgio Romani.

Financial Results and Outlook

In 2024, Gruppo Romani posted revenues of €126 million and continued to grow despite a challenging global environment. For 2025, the company forecasts revenues of €140 million, with exports remaining steady at 75%, driven by significant growth in Germany, France, Belgium, and the United States.

Growth is supported by a renewed organizational structure at the Casalgrande headquarters, logistics, sales, and production hub: a unified company frontage along Via Volta featuring two showrooms that will enhance brand visibility. The Group currently employs 420 people across its two plants in Rubiera and Olbia.

“We foresee new investments, including potential acquisitions. These are the cornerstones of the development plan we have set out with our ‘Family Pact,’ strengthened by this generational transition. Fresh eyes will open up new opportunities,” concluded Romani.

Upcoming Events

Gruppo Romani will present its new brand identity and the collections of its six brands at the 42nd edition of Cersaie, scheduled to take place at BolognaFiere from September 22 to 26, 2025.
