Natural Stone Institute expands online education opportunities through yearend webinar series

The Natural Stone Institute (NSI) has announced its remaining 2026 webinar schedule, providing architects, designers, contractors, fabricators, and stone professionals with access to expert-led education covering sustainability, material selection, restoration, quality assurance, and industry-best practices.

The webinar series reflects NSI’s ongoing commitment to advancing professional education and supporting the successful use of natural stone across the built environment. Through a combination of technical instruction, project case studies, sustainability discussions, and virtual quarry experiences, participants gain practical knowledge that can be applied to projects of all sizes and types.

Many of NSI’s educational programs are approved for continuing education credit through leading industry organizations, including the American Institute of Architects (AIA), International Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC), Landscape Architecture Continuing Education System (LA CES/LACES), National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA), and Green Business Certification, Inc. (GBCI). Participants should refer to individual course listings for specific credit opportunities.

All webinars are offered live online from 11 a.m. to noon ET.

July 23, 2026: Circularity and Natural Stone

Natural stone’s durability and longevity make it one of the original circular building materials. Participants will explore how stone supports circular design principles through reuse, renovation, responsible material management, and long lifecycle performance, while examining its role within modern sustainability frameworks.

August 13, 2026: Virtual Quarry Tour: Las Vegas Rock

This live virtual experience will take participants inside an active quarry to explore the history, geology, extraction process, technical performance characteristics, and design applications of natural stone sourced from Las Vegas Rock.

September 10, 2026: Basics of Slate Selection, Fabrication, Installation, & Maintenance

Designed for design professionals, this course provides a comprehensive overview of slate as a building material, including material selection, fabrication methods, installation considerations, performance expectations, and long-term maintenance practices.

October 15, 2026: Case Studies: Restoration and Renovation of Natural Stone

Industry and design professionals will share real-world examples of successful restoration and renovation projects, highlighting natural stone’s unique ability to be restored while exploring current trends and opportunities within adaptive reuse and preservation projects.

November 19, 2026: Virtual Quarry Tour

Participants will gain a behind-the-scenes look at an active quarry while learning about geological characteristics, testing and performance considerations, installation recommendations, and creative project applications for natural stone.

December 10, 2026: Quality Assurance for Natural Stone Projects

This session will focus on the importance of quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle, including specifications, project coordination, material verification, and practices that help ensure successful project outcomes and long-term stone performance.

On-demand education available

In addition to live webinars, NSI offers an extensive library of on-demand education, technical resources, and continuing education opportunities through the NSI Learning Hub.
