If being an NTCA Five-Star Member didn’t have enough benefits on its own, here’s another one – PROFLEX® – a new supporter of the NTCA Five-Star Contractor program – is now offering NTCA Five-Star Members two new benefits.
The first is a $250 rebate on any product in the entire PROFLEX line. This promotion runs through December 31, 2023.
The second benefit is a remarkable 100-year warranty when a PROFLEX system is used in an NTCA Five-Star Member tile installation. PROFLEX warrants designated PROFLEX products – including surface preparation, moisture mitigation, waterproofing, sound control and setting material products – when used in a complete system with approved flooring over approved substrates as listed on PROFLEX Product Data Sheets. The products must be under normal use from the date of installation for the original owner. That means that PROFLEX will pay for replacement of the portion of the installation that involves the defective product, including finished materials, labor and installation for up to 100 years.
This is in addition to the vouchers that PROFLEX has been providing to new and renewing NTCA members through the Partnering for Success Program.
Tim Abbott, CEO of PROFLEX Products said the idea came to him while visiting with Nyle Wadford from Five-Star Contractor Member Neuse Tile Service. Wadford mentioned one NTCA objective was to arrange extended warranties with manufacturers for Five-Stars, who have gone through massive training to be experts.
“I am a huge supporter for NTCA and everything they do, and their mission,” Abbott said. “These are the best in the country, and I have so much faith in them – and in our products – that I am willing to throw out a 100 year warranty.” Abbott said he recently visited Israel, and viewed floors that were 3,000 years old. “Five-Stars could put in a floor to last that long,” he said. “Most ‘lifetime’ warranties are 25 years in the flooring world. We thought about a 500 year warranty for Five-Stars, but didn’t want to get too crazy, so we went with 100 years.”

NTCA members who acquire Five-Star Company Recognition status must complete a comprehensive application that demonstrates a proven track record of success in tile and stone installation and business management.
The tile industry believes strongly in the quality of workmanship offered by NTCA Five-Star Contractors. Many manufacturers recommend NTCA Five-Star Contractors to their customers on challenging projects. In 2012, language recommending qualified labor – and in particular NTCA Five-Star Contractors – was approved and inserted into the Tile Council of North America Handbook for Ceramic, Glass and Stone Tile Installation. In addition, qualified labor language has been introduced into Masterspec/ARCOM and into BSD+RIB SpecLink, which positions NTCA Five-Star Contractors as being uniquely and thoroughly qualified for high-level specifications.
In the last few years, NTCA has been at work developing a third-party accreditation program for NTCA Five-Star Contractors. By achieving accreditation, the company/business entities demonstrate their commitment to advancing the professionalism of the tile and stone industry.
