Cersaie turns 40 and redefines the concept of architectural design.

Cersaie 2023, to be held in Bologna from 25 to 29 September, will further cement the show’s status as the most important international exhibition of trends and products in the world of ceramic tiles and bathroom furnishings and as a unique opportunity to discover the materials and trends that are redefining the concept of architectural design.
Over the course of four decades, the International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings has firmly established itself as the go-to global event for industry professionals, architects and investors, a role that will be further underscored at this year’s 40th anniversary edition. Cersaie 2023 will be a unique opportunity to share ideas, discover the latest new products and take stock of everything that the show has achieved over the last forty years. But while taking visitors on a journey back into the past, it will also open a door into the future.

The concept of stepping through time and space that is central to this year’s communication campaign reflects the idea that the 2023 show will build on the achievements of the past to take a giant leap into the future. Through trade fair activities, meetings and networking opportunities, the five-day event will entirely redefine the concept of architectural design using innovative materials based on the latest research.

The visual concept for Cersaie 2023 consists of a highly symbolic image of a doorway through which the show’s visitors will step into the future and immerse themselves in a new dimension of architectural space, one that no longer focuses on individual identities but becomes a point of intersection between knowledge, visions and materials. This convergence between interior space and the building’s volume, between interiors and exteriors opens up new perspectives and offers a fresh look at materials, structures and colours.
At Cersaie 2023, ceramic tiles and bathroom furniture will be presented in an entirely new way. No longer confined to an autonomous and consequently limited dimension, these products will become part of a thought-provoking overall concept that encompasses space, quality of life and sustainability.

At the centre of this process are the products and, as always, the producer companies. It is these companies – teams of men and women with extraordinary business talent and vision – that are the real stars of a forty-year success story that has gradually redefined the concept of material and architectural design in Italy and worldwide, setting new aesthetic trends and opening up new fields of application. Throughout this remarkable history, products have transcended the concept of a functional subdivision of space, of interior and exterior, and through research and innovation have become distinctive elements of buildings and potentially of the entire urban fabric.

Cersaie 2023 will once again be an extraordinary opportunity for cultural exchange thanks to its programme of exhibitions such as Top Star and Bologna Arte Architettura, the Keynote Lectures held as part of the Building, Dwelling, Thinking programme (past speakers have included 12 Pritzker Prize laureates), the Press Café conversations, and the hands-on experience offered by the Tiling Town workshops. Cersaie’s social media accounts and digital channels will offer regular updates throughout the period leading up to the September show, a thrilling journey in which past events and achievements will serve as a roadmap to the future. These stories of personalities, products and events will offer industry professionals and the general public a unique insight into a 40-year journey that has transformed ceramics and allowed the material to break out of the narrow confines of functional spaces to become a key element of architectural design.
