Decocer will return to Cersaie with Earth in Motion, a proposal by architect Héctor Ruiz Velázquez that transforms small-format ceramics into architecture. The project continues the concept presented at the previous edition and subsequently awarded at Coverings 2026.
While last year’s narrative explored the origins of ceramics—earth, clay and matter—in 2026, the focus shifts to transformation. Matter folds, curves, rises, and generates space. Ceramics move beyond the idea of a surface to become skin, volume and architectural landscape.
Under the concept “Small size. Big dreams,” Decocer will present three new collections in which color, relief, materiality, and an artisanal appearance become resources for creating spaces with identity. The proposal once again highlights the creative possibilities of small formats and one of Decocer’s key strengths: its ability to develop bespoke ceramic solutions, customizing shapes, dimensions, colors, reliefs, and finishes to meet the requirements of each project.
Ceramics become architecture
Earth in Motion takes the form of a large three-dimensional envelope defined by curved lines, creating routes, transparency, and changing perspectives.
The proposal explores the idea of a vertical topography, as if the Earth had been frozen in motion. Through the repetition of small-format pieces, ceramics acquire a new scale and actively participate in defining the space, demonstrating how the material can transcend its traditional role as a surface covering.
The color palette reinforces this connection with matter. Terracotta, clay, sienna, and fired-earth tones run throughout the pavilion, creating a warm and enveloping atmosphere, while lighting accentuates textures, reliefs, and finishes.
The interior combines product-display areas with spaces for meetings and interaction. Ceramics are integrated into surfaces and elements throughout the stand, taking the small format from the scale of the individual piece to that of architecture.
