Infinity Drain® launches new CEU Course: Universal Design Incorporating Architectural Linear Drains

Amityville, NY, June 2023 – Infinity Drain, the leading manufacturer of architectural drainage solutions, has launched a new online CEU in partnership with Architectural Record. The new course, “Universal Design Incorporating Architectural Linear Drains,” delves into designing buildings and spaces for all people, with or without disabilities.

“We receive many requests for information on Universal Design and are very excited to expand our linear drain course library with a new detailed CEU on this critical and timely topic,” says Jonathan Brill, President of Infinity Drain. “While our drains are typically a decorative and functional accessory in a shower or bathroom floor, this article presents case studies that demonstrate how linear drains play a major role in improving building safety and accessibility for all individuals – within the bathroom and beyond.

Learning objectives of the 1 AIA LU/HSW credit educational course include:

  1. Identify and recognize the differences between accessible design and universal design to provide safety and accessibility in different building types.
  2. Investigate the types of integrated drainage systems that create well-drained paths of travel and interior spaces, so they are attractive, fully accessible, and safe.
  3. Assess effective ways to provide universal design with integral drainage systems for floors, balconies, terraces, bathrooms, showers, and other spaces.
  4. Recognize how the principles described in this course are applied to specific building types through project example case studies.

Course Description: Universal Design is a process that enables and empowers a diverse population by improving human performance, health and wellness and social participation. It aims to improve accessible building access, maintain consistent space designs to avoid additional accessibility expenses and offers complete building designs. Architectural linear drains provide an elegant drainage solution by sloping the floor surface to one side and removing water along the low end. Overall, Universal Design makes life easier, healthier and friendlier for all individuals by incorporating features that promote accessibility for everyone.

Infinity Drain offers a wide range of CEU’s for in-person and online learning. Visit their website to view all CEU’s available for in-person lunch and learns as well as online credits.
