Fireclay Tile acquires Fox Marble, investing in the future of fabrication and installation in the Bay Area

Acquisition adds 115 teammates, a Richmond, Calif., fabrication hub, and a new training platform focused on modern tools, systems, and skilled trade careers

Fireclay Tile has acquired Richmond, Calif.-based Fox Marble, expanding its Bay Area footprint and investing in the future of fabrication, installation and restoration services. The acquisition adds approximately 115 teammates, a 50,000-sq.-ft. fabrication facility in Richmond, and a new platform for hiring, training, and modernizing skilled trade work across stone and tile.

Fox Marble is known for complex, high-touch work requiring precision fabrication, disciplined installation, and strong coordination across trades—capabilities that matter deeply to top builders, architects, designers, and homeowners.

The deal brings together Fireclay Tile’s experience scaling a handmade tile manufacturer into a national brand, with Fox Marble’s long-standing expertise in stone fabrication, installation, and surface care. Together, the companies plan to invest in training, better field systems, modern communication tools, and more disciplined project management to better serve homeowners, general contractors, designers, and architects.

The solar-powered Richmond, Calif., fabrication facility will also feature a new Fox Training Center dedicated to cultivating the next generation of skilled craft and technical talent across both fabrication and field operations. More important than the facility alone is the team behind it—experienced craftspeople, field leaders, technicians, and project professionals whose expertise has made Fox Marble a trusted partner on demanding residential and commercial work across the Bay Area.

“We’ve spent the last two decades proving that artisan manufacturing can scale,” said Eric Edelson, CEO of Fireclay Tile. “We grew Fireclay Tile from 19 teammates to nearly 300 while building a national brand, and we believe the same kind of investment, training, systems, and technology can help strengthen the trades we rely on every day.

“There’s a real shortage of skilled labor in our category, and we see an opportunity to hire, develop, and modernize in a way that makes us a better partner. Fox Marble is an amazing company and the perfect platform for this next chapter.”

Fireclay Tile entered tile installation in the Bay Area two years ago as part of a broader effort to build a more dependable, disciplined service model around the products it makes. The Fox Marble acquisition expands that effort into stone fabrication, restoration, and care.

Following the acquisition, the combined operation includes:

  • Custom stone fabrication in a 50,000-sq.-ft. Richmond facility, supported by seven installation crews
  • Tile installation supported by 19 installation crews
  • Stone and concrete care and restoration provided by 14 technicians

Fireclay Tile’s Bay Area tile installation business will be integrated into Fox Marble, creating a more unified field operation across tile and stone services.

“Since our beginning in 1986, Fox Marble has earned a reputation in the Bay Area for high-quality fabrication, skilled field execution, and trusted relationships with leading general contractors, architects, designers, and homeowners,” said Charles McLaughlin, Founder and CEO of Fox Marble. “Joining Fireclay Tile gives our team the resources, systems, and long-term investment to keep growing while continuing to serve clients with the people and quality they trust.”

Fireclay Tile said the acquisition is also about modernizing how trade work gets done. The company plans to invest in hiring, career development, field communication tools, scheduling systems, training, and project management to improve coordination between shop fabrication and field execution.

Fox Marble’s Richmond facility will serve as the center of Fireclay Tile’s growing services platform, located near the company’s San Francisco office and Bay Area installation operations. There will be no disruption to ongoing or upcoming projects, and Fox Marble’s current leadership team, including Nick Barr, Dan Lopez, and Adalid Estrada, is being supported by Eric Edelson, who will be the CEO of both Fox Marble and Fireclay Tile.

“Skilled trades are facing a workforce shortage and a need for enhanced training and tools,” Edelson said. “We want to help build a model that attracts great talent, supports career growth, and delivers a more predictable experience for the customers and partners who depend on this work.”
