Motawi adds new Charley Harper Mini Tiles

Ann Arbor, Mich. – March 27, 2023 Motawi Tileworks has expanded its popular art tile series of Charley Harper Minis, 3-by-3-inch ceramic tiles featuring the artwork of Charley Harper (1922–2007). New Chipmunk, Grosbeak and Mouse designs join the original 3×3 Blue Jay, Owlet, Squirrel and Woodpecker.

For more than 10 years, Motawi Tileworks has partnered with the Charley Harper Art Studio to adapt the artist’s midcentury-style images for ceramic tile. The Charley Harper by Motawi line now boasts more than 30 products, including made-to-order tiles for home installations.

“Charley Harper’s art translates beautifully to a ceramic tile canvas,” said Nawal Motawi, owner and artistic director of The Tileworks. “It is a pleasure to work with these sophisticated yet whimsical designs and to see how enthusiastically Motawi customers have embraced them.”

Charley Harper Minis and all Motawi art tiles are available for purchase at motawi.com and in Motawi’s gallery (170 Enterprise Drive in Ann Arbor). Art tiles are suitable for installation or display in frames or easels and have notches for hanging.

Founded in 1992, Motawi Tileworks makes handcrafted ceramic tile as art pieces and for residential and commercial installations. Motawi releases new art tiles regularly, including original designs and those based on the work of celebrated artists such as Frank Lloyd Wright and Charley Harper. Motawi tiles are sold in more than 300 locations in the U.S. and Canada.
